Czech Republic joins the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies

First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska met with Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic Mikuláš Bek, rectors of Charles University, Palacký University, Vice-Rector of Masaryk University, Vice-Rector of the University of Hradec Králové, deans of specialised faculties and heads of Ukrainian studies departments.

"Your support for Ukrainian pupils, students and education is valuable to us. Ukrainians remain the largest group of foreign students in the country. The Association of Ukrainian Studies in the Czech Republic is active. Charles University and Masaryk University offer bachelor's and master's degree programmes in Ukrainian studies, while Palacký University offers a bachelor's degree programme in Ukrainian philology. Czech universities have created more than 200 positions for Ukrainian scholars, which allows them to continue their research and teaching," Olena Zelenska said.

The First Lady attended the signing of important documents within the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies. Charles University (Prague) and the University of Hradec Králové signed memoranda of cooperation. At the same time, Masaryk University (Brno) and Palacki University (Olomouc) signed letters of intent, confirming their plans to join the coalition.

"The Coalition is a global initiative to promote the study of Ukrainian studies in academic institutions around the world, objective and comprehensive information about Ukraine, free from fakes and imperial manipulations. Truth and cooperation are what make everyone involved stronger," Olena Zelenska said.

The Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies was created with the support of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska as a joint initiative of the Ukrainian Institute, the Presidential Foundation for Support of Education, Science and Sports, the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea / Crimean Platform, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
